Over the years I have come across quite a few stories about it. I believe the concept was well intentioned but the carry through was less than reliable. Most cases were not followed up on and the conditions of the children were left to whomever took them. Some suffered from brutal beatings, overwork and little food. I have read a few success stories but many ended up in what amounted to slavery. Siblings were seperated and none truly knew what they were to expect. It's hearbreaking that this was done to innocent children.
