Doesn't make sense. Why would the Confederate government pick a consummate loser like Booth to carry out such a bold plan? But when you think of Booth's famous one-liner ("sic semper tyrannis"), have to say I'm hearing pretty much the same kind of kookiness on this board, only without the "classical" overtones.

Is that where the old vaudeville well-wish "break a leg" comes from?

Even Hancock was opposed to the hanging of Mary Surrat but as a soldier, he put his personal feelings aside and executed (sorry, bad pun) his duty like a man.
