Another very good point Dennis. I of course know it wouldn't have helped in Eastern KY. Unlike my friends Chase and Paul, my family not only were not against slavery, they were one of the few families in the area to own slaves. I don't know, but I suspect that they looked to Kentucky first instead of the Union for that matter. I do however know this, family was first. When Confederate State troops took my g-g-grandfather's life, a man who wanted no trouble with anyone, they got their war. No quarter asked by my people and , yes, none given to those in the State Troops. I don't suspect being a Mason would have helped one much there. War in Missouri and Kentucky was not a glorious, honorably, awe inspiring event. It was brutal, nasty, and to the knife.
