Lincoln did not try to do away with the Consitution. He proposed that it be. Which means he did not believe it to be a valuable part of our government. If you think about it, our Consitution prevents our Government from abusing us. It has rules as to how we shall be governed. Lincoln thought those rules should be done away with. If he had lived, would he finish destroying the Government that Consitution stood for? Would we be forced to have Presidents who died in office as a means of getting rid of them? Would you be secure in your home, from invasion of police officers without warrants? This is why Lincoln What ifs are a big question,,,,He stole our government and replaced it with his, Thank God he didn't get the Constitution with it,,,
