Mac, there's a book out now. Can't recall the title. It's early for a guy used to working second shift. It compares six civil war generals....Grant and Lee....Thomas and Jackson....Barlow and Gordon....the author has a nickname for all...yeoman for Grant...aristocrat for Lee...Roman for Thomas...I forget Jackson's, I think Knight (I just glanced through the book at Borders)....Barlow was the puritan and Gordon the cavalier. He seem to think Thomas the best general of the bunch. Can't say as I disagree.
Oh yeah, Gordon was I think a brother-in-law to Shaw who lead the black regiment in Glory. After the war, he was instrumenta in breaking up the corrupt Democrat political machine of Boss Tweed. Sorry amigo, it's early can't think of anymore. Except Barlow was one extremely bad Yankee, blue wearing dude. I salute his shade.
