In 1995, the what is believed to be the first Spanish fort was excavated. Santa Maia deGalve is located where the baseball diamond is by the officers quarters. Next to the public works building and the old photo school. The also found graves there. It is just east of Barrancas.
I wish I could find the exact location of the camp that was located on Bayou Grande during the Confederate occupation.
