Pam,

The 1874 plan for Fort Barrancus and the Advanced Redoubt I posted a partial image. To the north of the Advanced Redoubt is a cleared field of 22 acres called the Camp Garden in 1874; that is where the road on the posted image going by the Advanced Redoubt is going. Today that spot is located between the Redoubt Bayou (connected to Bayou Grande) and the Advanced Redoubt and according to Google Earth is partially cleared and partially wooded area. In this image that area is covered in tents; this image is looking north behind Fort Barrancus and you can see the camp in the upper left of the picture. That would be an ideal spot for a large camp, access to the navigatable water to Warrington, in an area that would be easily defendable and would fill a gap in the rear defences to the Fort Barrancus and Navy Yard.
