Correct me if I'm wrong, but one of the problems was taxation with no representation in Parliament. I do believe the South was haevily represented in the US Congress, wasn't it?
Also at that time, I don't believe the Federals were billeting troops in private residences and making the home-owner pay for the upkeep, like some early-day Chicago-style protection racket.
I'm sure there were more grievances, but they escape me at the moment.
