I believe the WWII German Army had a Colonel-General ranking between a [Full] Gen. and Field Marshall.

Ranking after a Maj. Gen. was a Lt. Gen., then Gen., then Col. Gen., then Field Marshall.

One should also note that a Sgt. Major in many armies is considered a Warrant Officer.
