Thanks for your wonderful words. I am lost and not at home unless I can hear the whistle of the tugboat or the slow ringing of the harbor buoy. I was born on the banks of Mobile Bay near the mouth of Dog River. My ancestors sailed these waters and the tributaries that fed it since 1800. I come from a long line of ship owners, captains, pilots, engineers, builders, and sailors. The Civil War has a wonderful assortment of stories and histories of men at sea. I wish more people were interested in it.
