About the Jeff Davis Highway, this is nothing new. Here is the history of the highway which was planned in 1913,

That is not a new name rather the mayor of the town is having the stone removed and refuses to place it back to it's position, forcing the SCV to spend fund to provide a new home. Did you overlook the reference to "that racist rock?" Why should there be any objection to anything named Jeff Davis in Oregon? Descendants of Confederates settled in that area too. We have a MLK BLVD. here in Gulfport and Lincoln Co. Mississippi. I fail to see the difference.
Taking an anti-Confederate position is one thing the wholesale removal is quite another thing.
