Check with your local LDS Family History Centers. Many of them have microfilm copiers, which can electronically scan and save images to a PC. I have a "Flash Disk" that I use to copy the files off of the PC and make them portable.

For those of you with Digital Cameras, some people get good results with the proper settings and a little practice of photographing the projected image from the old-style microfilm readers. This second method is discussed in an article on Ancestry.Com. I've not done it myself, but have talked to others and seen the photographs. They're not bad. Uh, remember to turn the flash off.
