Chief, my very much alive father in law was an LST sailor the last two years of the war. His ship landed Marines at Iwojima, and supplies at Okinawa. He was a cook and 20mm gunner. Though attacked, they were never hit by a Kamikaze. After the surrender, his captain offered to make him a chief if he reenlisted. Lucky for me, he came home, met and married my mother in law and my wife was born nine months and one week later. I'm ten years older than she, so I already have my younger woman. LOL Stan
