Re: Why did the Northern soldiers fight?

Exactly Frank or perhaps the ownership of Federal property to be exact. It really chaps my but these so called historians try to make every thing from the time of creation as a cause of the war. It is simply not true. You cannot make me believe those brave Union men died over the cause of secession, slavery or tariffs, it just didn't happen. These events had happened and no call for troops was made until the firing on Fort Sumter. I had read someplace that the early war cry was "Avenge Sumter" --- well I didn't save it--AAAAANHHHHHHHH!!!!!
