Re: How to use this board...

I don't think I answered your question correctly. I will debate, argue, and correct anyone that I feel is misrepresenting history. I believe there is a cadre of interested peoples here that have dedicated their lives to preserving and providing respectable views on the Civil War. I also believe in fairness and, as our brethren in Great Britain would say, "good form". When I finally get irritated with posters I usually let it be known, I don't suffer fools gladly. The history of the American Civil War, to many Southerners is sacred, as sacred as the memories of their ancestors and the Lost Cause. Many of us treat that history with reverence. There are always times and places to make a historical argument, but I believe it should be used sparingly and with a just cause...and most important...have a real goal, make a difference, contribute to HISTORY. I cannot speak for your "side" on this board as to why your "side" does not conflict with one another, there may be an issue with the quality of passion over the subject, I don't know. There have been times in the past I wished somebody from the pro-Union side would say something to their own. It would have decreased the amount of bad feelings between the two sides.
