Hello all,
Most Americans have ancestors who fought in the War for Southern Independence. Some, like me, had 'em that served on both sides (several for the South, one a surgeon w/11th Ky cav regt (U.S.).).

Anyway, remember General Patton's ancestor was a Col Patton in a Va regiment I believe. Also, as for Elvis, years ago I remember something about Elvis Prsley's ancestor in I believe a Tennessee unit. What was funny, he deserted, yet went and joined another unit and continued to serve. The article went on to say a lot of guys, if they decided they did not like the unit they were in, or say had a brother in another unit and wanted to serve with him, would simply just leave and go join the other unit. I found the article interesting.
