Exactly.
I have worked with quite a few of Knight's descendants, both black and white, no two of them tell the same story. Don't quote this as fact, but I have been told there were Union deserters also in that bunch as well as free blacks and slaves. When either army raided Jones county, it was the salves who protected Knight and hismen. I had the name of the black descendant who was supposed to be the expert on the family. Lost it somewhere, but her grandson and I are friends.
