No, family legend has it that he returned home, either sick or wounded,while serving with the 28th and was not ready to return when ordered. He joined the 1st Cav at Camp Davies, MS, traveling from Jefferson County, AL to do so. He was orderly Sgt of Co D. Returned home to No AL, raised 11 children. Wish I knew more about how he was received after the war.
