Right, it all boils down to the fog and confusion of Battle, which causes you to either not realize that your weapon has misfired, or you forgot what you were doing. One thing that always puzzled me about the guns loaded with up to 17 rounds. Why did the soldier not realize that more and more of his ramrod was not going down the barrel during the ramming of the cartridge? By the time he had loaded 8 or 10 rounds he should have noticed that about half of his ramrod would have been sticking out the barrel as he rammed home his cartridge.
