The following was taken from the Columbus Gazette of November 11, 1864
"ENUMERATION OF YOUTH- We are indebted to E.A. Martin, of the County Auditor's office for the following abstract of the enumerating of youths between the ages of 5 and 21, residing in Franklin County, Ohio, October 1st, 1864: (Columbus, Ohio is the county seat for Franklin County as well as the capital city)

I was somewhat surprised at the low number of blacks living in Franklin County, Ohio considering it had been almost two years since the EP and with the active Underground Railroad prior to the War.
