I believe that is probably the most eloquent essay about the South in the aftermath of the War that I ever read. People who have not spent a lot of time in the South will probably not understand. Southerners who do not know their heritage may not understand. Some of the 20th Century comments reveal a clearly libertarian perspective. That might anger some conservatives who agree with the rest of it. I like it just the way it is written.
