LOL. I correspond with an English WTBS buff; I doubt he would object. The British Sailor I bunked with in the Philippines referred to himself that way, explaining it came from the use of limes in their grog to combat scurvy. The Aussie sergeants referred to themselves as "Cobbers". For some reason I didn't ask why. Maybe the San Miguel beer made me forget! Later, I learned that "cob" meant "to like", and that cobber was a friendly term for friend, or mate. I still have Sgt. Bryan LeStrange's Aussie bush hat, for which I gave him my Marine fatigue cap. LeStrange was a big dude, but his hat is too small for me. Oh, well. Stan
