Perhaps I have been looking at the statistics wrong. The definition of "battles" must be what frustrates me. There had to have been a lot of fighting and killing in raids, ambushes and so forth that did not qualify as battles and the Indians could not afford to even win many battles because they had such a disadvantage over manpower and resources. They were doomed....more so than the Confederates.
