Perhaps this was not so unusual. John Bell Hood was from Kentucky, Kirby Smith was from Florida, etc. Bradfute Warwick must have been one of the youngest majors and youngest brevet colonels in the entire war. Quite a remarkable man, a genuine battlefield hero.
