So what, Ireland was a dominion of a "neutral" nation, Great Britain and that did not stop the yankees from crossing the ocean and "canvassing" the entire island to purchase cannon fodder. And there were more Germans in the Union army than Irishmen. Kind of like King George's notion of hiring Hessians to murder and pillage Americans.
