Back before most of y'all were born, we played Cowboys and Indians from the old "B" westerns, or Marines and "Japs" (sorry), as WWII was not that long ago. Being all Southerners, we had no Yankees to fight. My GGF McCollum had thrown rocks at real Yankees during Reconstruction. We never had any cards, and we made our own guns from wood. Some of them were rubber guns, when inner tubes were real rubber, which would stretch. We also used our "Red Ryder" BB guns. During '61-'65, I was on active duty, at the Naval Photo Center, Pacific Fleet Combat Camera Group, when I got to be temporarily stationed in Japan, and the University of Southern California.
