Re: When did the Harriet Lane fire the first shot?

At the time of the incident the Harriet Lane was the U.S.S. Harriet Lane, in service to the U.S. Navy- not a revenue cutter.

More on my research. I finally have found the information that locks down the time the Nashville was fired upon by the Harriet Lane. The Atlantic, Baltic and Nashville left New York within one hour of each other. The Baltic was sighted off of New Jersey at a specific time and place- locking down its speed in hours, the Nashville was sighted off of North Carolina and its exact location and time were given. The storm they all encountered slowed them down considerably. I now can claim the report by Confederates from the Sullivan Island lighthouse on witnessing a Union ship firing upon another, was most probably the Harriet Lane firing across the bow of the Nashville just before noon of April 12th. What is interesting is the Baltic beat the Nashville by about 9 hours. I'm going to have figure how that happened.
