Maybe, however, references show this particular weapon was not issued in any great numbers until after the war started. There were only 4,014 of these made. By October of 1860 3,022 remainded unissued, of these, nearly 2,000 of these were still in the Springfield Armory in Mass. These facts would lessen the possibilty that a lone photographer would have had owned this weapon, but not impossible.
