Re: Dennis Rogers Co.K 44th. Mississippi

Hello Ron, from my limited experience he may be buried in the Jonesboro graveyard in Jonesboro, Georgia where more than 500 unknown Confederates are buried or if he was lucky he could have been buried at the Stonewall Cemetery in Griffin, Georgia. Many of the sick and wounded due to the Atlanta Campaign were buried at the Stonewall Cemetery and I seem to recall over 200 tombstones of Confederate dead made by the Ladies Memorial Association and are square and not your typical Confederate tombstones that were made starting in 1931 by the US government. Commander Tom Wise of SCV Camp 1996 and I went to the cemetery and counted them and if my memory is correct we counted 242 such tombstones. There were at least two separate Confederate hospitals at or near Griffin. And also in August of 1864 a great number of Confederates from the Atlanta Campaign were buried at the Newnan Cemetery and those tombstones were put up just prior to WWII. If he is not at Griffin or Newnan than I expect he is at Jonesboro.
