I never took it that way, and my experiences go back several years up to as recently as last year. I was never directly involved in any contact with the VA. I got involved because someone emailed me asking that I either physically go to the cemetery to check out a marker or contact the local SCV camps about the placement of the stone. As in anything else with this many people and a government agency involved, there will be mistakes.
Just one of several reasons I recommended having a cemetery message board. There are thousands of WBTS veterans, both Union and Confederate who have been buried in graves that have long been forgotten, and we owe it to them to honor each of them, with a proper marker, be it VA or bought by local groups or families. ........ nuff said
