The commander of the 35th Texas Cavalry, Col James B. Likens, made a 3 page tabulated report in December 1863 listing only the enlisted men absent. Found at the NARA, its a detailed report showing considerable information on each man. It gives the reason each man is absent; sick, AWOL, furloughed, or on special detail, and by whose order. Those on special detail are shown how they are employed. The report also indicates the home county of many. Unfortunately, no roster of men present has ever been found.

I would attach a picture of one of the pages, but cannot figure out how to do it. The picture is not on the internet, but my computer.
