25% is not that bad considering the U.S. Army lost ALL of its personnel records for the period covering 1912 to 1960 in a fire in St. Louis in 1973. Ever wonder how or why all these late awards were given out to Army vets 40 -70 years after the fact? I know of a vet who claimed 100% disability and a purple heart for service in Italy in 1945 and got it in 2002. No records, just a doctors and pastors letter to the VA. Everyone in the family knew it was a self inflicted wound and knew it since 1945!
