Bryce:

His name was M. H. Seaford, a teacher by profession, who apparently was living near Ridgeway, in Fairfield District. To the best of my knowledge, he was killed on the date of the engagement, Jan 17, 1864. I do not have the Company A (Washington Light Infantry) roster before me, but that it about all I know; I do have his age as given on the census. He had only recently joined the company, and while the records state he enlisted, he was undoubtedly a conscript (this was a company originally raised form Charleston and Georgetown Districts, on the coast). Jenkins brigade was one of the principally engaged Confederate units, and over half of the casualties in the brigade were from the Legion. Lee
