Thaddeus W. Freeman enlisted in Captain Gary's Company, B/Hampton Legion on 14 Jun 61, at Columbia, and fought through the war, being again wounded at 2 Manassas on 30 Aug 62. He was captured at the battle of New Market Heights on 29 Sep 64 (the Legion infantry having been converted to mounted infantry), and was exchanged at Aiken's Landing from Pt. Lookout on 20 Mar 65. That is his last entry in the Compiled Service Records. Apparently he went home on furlough, as he did not surrender at Appomattox.
