Thanks for the info,i have James Nichols as awol thru Jan 1863 then he reapears with the 52nd.fighting against Shermans forces at New Hope Church where he was wounded on May 25,1864.James received a Confederate pension in 1905,it doesnt shed any light on his service record.Back to the search. Ron
