Gents,

The 1862 issued flag for the Brooks Artillery rests in the collections of the Charleston Museum.

It was made by Mrs. Phillip Schuckman of the city (who had her hand in making other unit colors) who did the embroidery. It is not an ANV flag but rather a variant of the SC state flag on peach colored silk.

One side has the palmetto tree with coiled snake and crescent moon while the other has an embroidered laurel wreath and within that the battle honors (painted on) for Manassas, Ellerson's Mills, Coal Harbor (sic), White Oak Swamp, Manassas Plains. Below the wreath is "Brooks Artillery" and "1861."

It sure is a pretty flag!
