Info. on Red Hill in Summerville?

Hey y'all. First off, forgive me if I babble, but I'm so excited that I just can't STAND it! I just purchased the Hutchinson's carriage house(the Hutchinson's are the folks that the Summerville town square was named after), on Main Street in Summerville. It is right smack dab at the top of "Red Hill", one house away from the Episcopal Seminary, which according to the green Summerville Sesquencentinnial book (wow - did I spell that right???) is noted as a major Civil War hospital. It also notes that troops camped right here, in my yard. Well, this MUST be true, because I'm diggin' stuff up all over the yard! I have a great book that David Dement gave me of Civil War relics, and a couple of the "major" players I have identified have been a time fuse to a 12 pound cannon ball, the heavy bulb-shaped part that you turn to a "mainspring" device, an excellent fully intact hunting-type knife, a complete pair of eye glasses (less the lenses), the tip end of a bayonet, a knapsack closure thingy (can't remember the name right now!) a whole set of hardware to what must have been one MASSIVE trunk or box, the necks to who knows how many wicked old bottles..... I have boxes and boxes of the stuff!!! I've only been in the house for 5 months, and have only coverd a teeeeny piece of the 3/4 acre. And get this - apparently nobody has ever really gone looking for this stuff either, because all I have to do is barely kick up the dirt and it's laying right there!! Totally not kidding. I haven't been in the attic or under the house yet - too much of a weenie! Anyway.... Back to the question at hand: Since I slept through all my history classes in high school, when I got here 5 months ago I knew virtually NOTHING about the Civil War, but I'm learning fast. What can y'all recommend that I read that will tell me a lot about right around where I live? I know there were a bunch of folks camped over at the Catholic church, as well as those on the property here, but I have no idea WHO they were, where they were from, nothing. What can you guys tell me? I feel SO blessed to have been given this gift of history to keep watch over for a while. So, ANY information will be greatly appreciated. My thanks - Tina
