Jim --
I have an inspection report for Bratton's Brigade made on Sept. 30, 1864. Enlisted men are issued either the British Enfield (.577) or U. S. Springfield (.58). Condition of brigade firearms rated "good", those of the Palmetto Sharpshooters noted as "very fine".
The regiment reports 454 officers and men aggregate present, 331 enlisted men present for duty having 314 rifles. Four ordnance wagons for the brigade carry 37 boxes of ammunition in good condition, but no extra firearms or accoutrements are on hand.
Whitworth rifles are very rare in the ANV.
