Re: 1st, 2nd and 3rd SC Cavalry material

hello. i read your query and can help you some, as i had ancestors in the 2nd. Not a lot on these regiments is out there, but i will list the sources I have on the 1st and 2nd, The third regiment remained in the state for the war.the following books are available: Autobiography of Arab, bt E. Prioleau Henderson, @nd Rgt. It is a first person account, but he has his horse, Arab, as the narrator. Next is Crumbling Defenses by John Logan Black, Col. of the 1st Rgt. Next is Captain Alexander Hamilton Boykin, by his grandson Richard M. Boykin. Boykin was captain of Co. A, 2nd Rgt. Two others are Butler and His Cavalry In The War Of Secession 1861 - 1865 and Stories Of The Cofederacy by U. R. Brooks. Last is A Boot Full Of Memories by David G Douglas. This one is about Captain Leonard Williams of the 2nd Rgt. It revolves around his journey to Columbia for a last reunion of troops and finds all the letters he wrote to his late wife during the war stuffed into his dress boots. A most interesting first person account. Hope this gets you started reading sbout what was one of, if not the finest Rgt. in the war.
