Thanks for the reply, Jim. The widow re-married in January 1868 to a U.S. Army soldier, who adopted her son and they both accompanied the soldier to Dakota Territory with the 17th U.S. Infantry. As she was in Charleston (I think) for a few years after the War, maybe there is a trace remaining there of her.
