Thank you for the information. I really appreciate it. I have an order in for military records for a different gg-grandfather, but wanted to wait until I see what will be in that package before I commit more money, as much as I would like to. If I could, I would order records on all my gg-grandfathers, but there are six of them that served in the Confederacy!
Would you by any chance be able to tell when Daniel actually reported for duty and when he died. I found a website that said he died in Georgia but not when or how. However, I have noticed that those soldiers killed in battle normally say so. My conclusion would be that Daniel died of disease or perhaps an accident.
My plan is to make a trip to South Carolina to try to locate graves. It is beginning to look like that might much more difficult than I originally planned. I live in Texas and have located graves in Florida, and Alabama. Have located Daniel's daughter's grave between Perry and Salley, South Carolina, so I thought if Daniel died in Georgia, I might be able to find him, too.
Any help is so appreciated. Thanks, Johnny Reb!
