Jack,
Several artillery units did duty in the forts and batteries in Charleston harbor, none of which were offically designated as "Irish" in their official name. The Charleston Artillery Battalion of South Carolina is one of these units that served in the area. They also were not called "Irish". Unoffically, it is possible that a unit was called Irish but don't of any, offically or unoffically.
