Walker is certainly an interesting man and enjoyed his writings and have his book. Local family descendants are somewhat put out that he wrote long after Col. James F. Pressley's death locally in 1874 that he was the one that suggested the attack upon the Troup-Hurt House at the Battle of Atlanta where JFP was wounded out of the war and Walker became the C.O. Family feel that Walker was a self promoter after the war in various writings. He was Commander, UCV, in the late 1890's? JFP had a big UDC/SCV grave marker dedication ceremony some years ago at Fairfield , CA. I was honored to be the speaker about his life. His brother, John G. Pressley, was the acting C.O. of the 25th S.C. Inf. 1862-64. Both were wounded out in 1864. JGP is an attraction in the Santa Rosa Rural Cemetery, CA where I have been the Civil War specialist since 1998. Both have grave markers now that relate their war service as their family markers made no mention of such. Have large files on both, especialy JGP.
