This can not be the same edward owens since if he was 50 in 1930 then he would have born in 1880. The edward owens I am looking for joined the 1st sc militia in jan or feb 1861 and then joined the 17th scv for the war. What I would like most to know is what kinds of reasons would the confederate army have for granting a discharge during the middle of the war. I have found where he was paid at least through june of 1863 and then discharged in sept 1863 with no reason given. I have assumed that the discharge would have probably been diability related but dont know for sure.
