Maxwell, Captain Thomas L.

Help needed: background information on Captain and Mrs. Thomas L. Maxwell of South Carolina.

I am currently re-reading a history of the 3rd Louisiana Infantry (Tunnard, "A Southern Record"). Captain Thomas L. Maxwell, from South Carolina, was appointed Assistant Commissary of Subsistence (A. C. S.) of the 3rd Louisiana regiment when it reached Arkansas in the June 1861. He retained that position until early 1863 when he became A. C. S. of the Post at Jackson, Mississippi. I don't have any information about his service from mid-1863 until the end of the war.

Mrs. Maxwell made a silk Latin Cross regimental battleflag for the 3rd Louisiana regiment in early 1863 which reached the regiment in Mississippi but somehow managed to escape capture when Vicksburg fell. Captain N. M. Middlebrooks, Company C, 3rd Louisiana Infantry took the flag home to Louisiana when he left the Enterprise Parole Camp on furlough (he was still a paroled prisoner of war) in August 1863. This flag was formally presented to the regiment in February 1865 at Shreveport.

Looking for a brief biographical sketch telling us who the Maxwells were, and a little bit of information about their lives before and after the War. Also, any information on Captain Maxwell's service from mid-1863 until the end of the war would be appreciated. I am researching an article on the flag for a local genealogy society quarterly journal.
