I believe he is listed as PVT Maximillian MICHAEL, Cos. I and K, 1st SC Artillery. Since this regiment was not formed until after the bombardment of Ft. Sumter, he probably saw prior service in the 1st SC Militia Artillery, which was then in service. You can obtain a copy of his Compiled Service Record in the 1st SC Artillery through the SC Archives.
