Re: Letters from 154th Senior Regt soldier

Hello. Very moving letters.
I had two relatives who were shot at Shiloh and much worse than Samuel Cowan.
They both lived.
Each went home and was nursed back to health as home was close enough to go to.
One was my great grandfather, James T. Harper with the 5th Tenn. and the other was Sgt. J.D. Pearce who served with the 8th Arkansas whose family lived at Mifflin, Tenn. Of course each carried this injury to the day he died, one with a stiff leg and the other with weakened lungs.
