For starters, I would suggest you consult:

"The Military Annals of Tennessee, Regimental Histories and Memorial Rolls" (also known as Lindsley’s Annals)

In addition to thumbnail sketches of individual regiments, they usually contain a Roll of Honor containing the names and dates of regimental deaths.

I would look it up, but, I'm away from my home base and reference files.

I'd then suggest you do a Goggle search of the "23rd Tennessee Infantry." That's all you need. You will be suprised what you will find.
