You can go to the Soldier's & Sailor's System at http://www.itd.nps.gov/cwss/soldiers.htm and type in the Boring name, then click on Confederate to see how many there were in the military. You may want to try other spellings also (Borin, Boran, Boren) as many of them changed the spelling of their surname.

Many of the Borings from around Eastern TN settled in Texas and Indiana. Some in Middle and Western TN crossed over to Trigg Co., KY and remained there.
