Thanks for your response. My g,g,grandfather was from Sullivan County and was in Company B ( From neighboring Washington County.) There's no record of his applying for any pension. Same is true for his wife. He died in 1906. The record simply states " due to be released at Louisville." There's also a letter written by a Mr. Whitcomb from Nashville dated March 1911 as part of this record seeking info on John Harvey Cox, saying, " we fail to locate him." Maybe he was paroled and his papers taken from him ? ( wasn't this done to some at Vicksburg ? ) His " run-ins " with the homeguard must have happened after his return home. They were probably trying to send him back maybe ? You're right about the spelling.
